The overall business confidence in April 2019 declined to red zone, which shows predominance of pessimistic views of business community about the economy (Figure 1). It indicates that positive views regarding business and economic conditions prevailing in February 2019 have changed to negative over the period.
Institute of Business Administration is conducting Business Confidence Survey in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan. It aims to be representative of Pakistan's businesses operating in various economic and geographic domains. The survey data is used to construct a business sentiment index, which significantly extends the information base for SBP's forward looking policy making.
BCS is a bi-monthly telephonic survey conducted in second half of even number months (i.e. February, April, June, August, October and December). This survey targets large firms in manufacturing, services, construction, wholesale and retail trade and financial services sector spread across the country to seek their opinions on production, employment, demand for credit and economic conditions etc.
